Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2018, and I went looking for the trends for next year to make your search for THE ONE as easy as possible. The Autumn / Winter 18 bridal collections have not only shown tulle and drag. They showed options for all styles and ceremonies. Wedding dresses that you can wear in autumn or winter. Do you want to know the latest wedding dresses trends before you start looking for a wedding dress? I spotted the most beautiful dresses for inspiration, and some are even available in the Netherlands. While the trends of the past season are far from over (off-the-shoulder, blue, lace!), You see a number of new favorites this season. Capes are still going strong, but this season they grew up from capelet to full-on princess cape.

WHAT WE SAW ON THE CATWALK OF THE NEW YORK BRIDAL FASHION WEEK
From princess-inspired capes to cool motorcycle jackets, removable sleeves, trouser suits, and modern sleek dresses are the wedding dresses trends of 2018. Exactly what I love and probably you too.
Designers show beautiful designs that would make every woman feel like a contemporary princess. From the classic strapless sweetheart-neck silhouettes in tulle and satin, to richly embroidered and abundant designs suitable for chic, dreamy wedding dresses, they certainly have their moment on the catwalk.

INSPIRED BY OUTERWEAR
Capes were already the big hit last season. However, this season we have seen the introduction of intricate caplets, blazers and bolero jackets in pairs with dresses of all shapes and sizes. Inbal Dror combined a beautiful blazer with a little-hidden tulle skirt and the designer Allison Webb combined a beaded bolero with a simple silhouette.

SHEER PERFECTION
Designers have proven that what skin shows is always in because there are hard dresses with straps on the catwalk during the bridal week. This is done by not choosing real open skin, but the transparent fabric that gives a much more subtle skin. The sleek silhouettes and transparency are combined with delicate embroidery for a beautiful romantic touch to the wedding dresses. From flowers to polka dots. Dreamy and delicate! It is difficult to choose from these dresses. All are equally romantic and feminine, just how you want to look like on your big day.

PRINCESS CAPES

Designers trust to show your inner snow white on the day of ‘I do’. Skip the sleep or veil and finish your wedding dress with a chic cape. Whether they were long, middle or mini, capes were about the runways of the Bridal Fashion Week, and I bet the winter bride will keep this trend next year.

TROUW JACKETS
Not feeling like going full-on Disney? No problem! There were plenty of cool-ready moto jackets, topping off beautiful lace wedding dresses, to pick from. We guarantee this is a wedding-day piece you’ll wear again and again. ( Wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier )

Do not feel like going to princess a la Disney? I understand! There were many nice wedding-motorcycle jackets, to complement your beautiful lace wedding dress, to choose from. We guarantee that this is a wedding dress item that you can wear even after the wedding.

LOOSE SLEEVES
Call it the evolution of the off-the-shoulder wedding gowns trend. Designers are still planning to show the shoulders of brides, but this season is coming to an end! Loose sleeves were one of the great wedding dresses trends that could be seen – from pointe and big to slim and lace. They create the look of an off the shoulder dress while they are actually a strapless dress.

SHADES OF BLUSH AND NUDE
The blush trend makes further growth in different shades of pink and nude. From pink and peach to designer Naeem Khan to soft tones of nude with Elie Saab, Alexandra Grecco, Inbal Dror and more, this romantic wedding trend is to stay.

MINI EVERYTHING
The legs may be seen, autumn brides from 2018! While there was a lot of supply in the middiegte, there were also mini-wedding dresses and shorts. Whether in full miniskirts, modern high-low or even shorts and rompers were shown. Which are of course ideal for a destination wedding. And what I am like about this beautiful high low model by Rime Arodaky. Designers really think of the party for 2018. So many brides turn into a different dress at a given time in the night and the styles of this season ensure that the second dress can be just as special as the first. And daring brides can choose this as the main look.

FIERCE JUMPSUITS
Who wears the pants? The bride! Most designers showed at least one jumpsuit or pants that distinguishes this season, and I am secretly away from this trend. Although they are usually reserved for the chic city-hall weddings, we hope that this trend really gets going. Many wedding designers have expanded their bridal collections beyond the standard glitter and ball gowns and mermaid silhouettes. The designer Theia sent a very glamorous jumpsuit on the runway that can be worn as a wedding dress alternative or worn during, for example, the rehearsal dinner and other pre-wedding events.

CLEAN AND MODERN
Sometimes simplicity is best! And that certainly applies to these beautiful wedding dresses. Less is more with this clean and modern look, which makes us all long for the minimalism of the ’90s. This is my favorite trend of the season. I think that dresses are really the most fun to wear, because they combine so beautifully with a great shoe, bag, earring or even a coat. Plus, remember, clean and modern never looks dated – these photos will stay forever!

Hopefully you are completely inspired and informed of the latest wedding dresses trends so you can go well prepared for hunting to that one dream dress. In the Netherlands there are many wedding fashion stores, including some that also sell designer wedding dresses in different price ranges. Enjoy!
